Take a walk down memory lane to see some of the most iconic award show looks in history.
Of all the annual awards shows, the Grammy Awards is the one most notorious for showcasing the craziest celebrity fashion and beauty moments. But let’s take a moment to forget that time Lady Gaga showed up encased in an alien egg — which, to be fair, was iconic in its own right — and instead focus on the bold lips, edgy haircuts, towering updos, and exaggerated cat eyes that have wowed us over the years. That’s right: We’re dialing it back a few decades to reminisce over the unforgettable glam moments that have made history on the Grammys red carpet.
All your favorite stars made the list, too. Starting with Cher, Bette Midler, Selena, and Sheryl Crow — and then, of course, you have Beyoncé, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and more. Peruse through these looks from the past and prepare yourself for the greatness that we’re about to witness at the 2020 Grammys. We’ll see you there.
1969: Dionne Warwick
Dionne Warwick had a great run at the 11th Annual Grammy awards in 1969. Not only did she beat out other musical greats (including Aretha Franklin!) to score the award for Best Contemporary Female Pop Vocalist, she also won the red carpet with her ultra-modern beauty look. The chin-length bob with curled fringe was pretty, sure, but it’s that cat eye — with the ultra-exaggerated, thick wing — that makes this ‘60s look one for the history books.
