Whether you’ve noticed the influence of Tarantino’s Oscar-nominated Once Upon a Time in Hollywood or the influx of Twiggy-inspired eyes on the red carpet as of late, it’s clear the ’60s are back in full swing. The latest It-girl to jump on the mod trend is none other than singer Selena Gomez, who stepped out last night in New York with a cool girl take on the dramatic cat eye.
“We were thinking of the ’60s because of her dress,” says the pro behind the graphic black wing, celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo about Gomez’s mini pink Miu Miu frock. “We extended the liner and smoked it outwards at the ends.”
For an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night, the “Rare” singer slipped on a pair of open-toed silver platform sandals and a set of oversized diamante drop earrings to match her center parted volumized blowout (another trend that’s recently graced front rows as well as talk shows). To top things off, Gomez wore an oval-shaped white manicure and dabbed on a nude matte pout.
This is bound to be the first of many throwback beauty statements to come as awards season picks up steam.
