Ivanka Trump proudly told donors that she inherited her father’s “moral compass,” and yes, she was referring to Donald Trump when she said that. At a fundraiser last month in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Trump’s eldest daughter was asked what qualities she believes her parents passed down to her and according to two people present at the event, she said her father’s moral compass.
As Politico noted, she made a similar comment during the 2016 Republican National Convention.
“My father taught my siblings and me the importance of positive values and a strong ethical compass,” she told the crowd.
While inheriting Donald Trump’s moral compass would seem to be more of a burden than anything, Ivanka Trump is not stranger to praising her father publicly, even when being confronted with his unsavory decisions and comments.
During an interview with Good Morning America last November, she stressed that her position in the White House, despite being the president’s daughter, was not a conflict of interest. In fact, she said, it’s an advantage for everyone.
“He is my father, and he’s my boss. And one of the reasons that I have such a good relationship with him in both a personal and professional capacity is because I’m incredibly candid with him,” she said. “He knows exactly where I stand on any issue. I’ll always tell you what I’m for, but it is not my place as somebody working within a White House to tell you what I’m against. The only person who knows that is one person, and he knows it.”
