Beyoncé’s New Winter Boots Are Sustainably Made in Africa

Given winter is practically here and a hefty snowfall is on the horizon, the emphasis now is on practical fashion. That means those cute leather boots and heels you’ve been wearing in the fall? You may need to retire them in favor of hefty lug soles—that is, unless, you’re Beyoncé. This weekend, the superstar took to Instagram to share a mini photo shoot (as she does) to prove that an unexpected footwear choice can still look so good this season.

Attending a private screening of Queen & Slim, Beyoncé cast traditional winter shoes to one side for a chicer style: a snakeskin mid-calf boot by Brother Vellies, a label that produces its shoes in Africa with sustainable practices. (The style is also notably worn by Jodie Turner-Smith’s character in the film.)

Now, given this was a public appearance, Beyoncé would probably never show up in ski boots—but consider it a seasonal memo that, for upcoming holiday parties, a thin heel can still be worn (you just may want to get car service to get there). As for the rest of her look, Beyoncé wore a structured Balmain shirt dress with a matching quilted handbag—bearing a huge B logo, both for the fashion house and for Beyoncé herself—and gold statement earrings.
